We at Blacc Vanilla are partnering with and receiving the support of multiple Newburgh business owners, residents, organizations, and local politicians.
Our collective mission:
Blacc Vanilla, Motorcycle Pedia, Newburgh Illuminated, and the 105th Airlift Wing Division (USAF) is interested in exploring ways to work with Blacc Vanilla to advance our collective goal of engaging the community through the provision of innovative education and training programs designed to provide youth with the skills and experiences to lead healthy and productive lives.
The City of Newburgh is characterized by higher levels of unemployment and poverty coupled with a lower graduation rate in comparison to national averages. Moreover, New York State has ranked the City of Newburgh the fifth highest stressed city in the state based on the number of single mothers, poverty, abandoned buildings, unemployment and level of education. One third of adults over age 25 lack a high school diploma.
Blacc Vanilla has the community support based on its ability to bring diverse groups of people together to celebrate a culture of inclusion. Blacc Vanilla has done the good work to begin helping Greater Newburgh citizens rise together by supporting, engaging and employing people in a local business steeped in art, culture and coffee. Blacc Vanilla has chosen to center the youth, underserved and the unemployed at the heart of its programming which is aimed at promoting education, training and skills development, self-improvement and economic self-sufficiency while building a sense of hope and self-worth.
Having breathed new life into the “Ave”, the corner of South Street & North Miller St., formerly one of the most dangerous corners of Newburgh, Blacc Vanilla has received attention, awards and public support. These accolades and attention have laid the groundwork to spread love and expand into other types of businesses and community work, that help generate social and economic multipliers not seen in the City in several generations.
